Florian Malzacher
Florian Malzacher is co-programmer of the festival steirischer herbst in Graz (since 2006) and since 2009 also freelance dramaturge/curator for Burgtheater Vienna.
After his studies of Applied Theatre at the University of Giessen/Germany, he worked as a freelance theatre journalist for major daily papers (Frankfurter Rundschau, taz etc.) and magazines (e.g. Theater Heute, Ballettanz, etcetera, Frakcija). He is a founding member of the independent curators’ collective Unfriendly Takeover in Frankfurt.
He has worked as a freelance dramaturge (e.g. for Rimini Protokoll, Lola Arias, Nature Theater of Oklahoma) and an independent curator (e.g. International Summer Academy at Mousonturm/Frankfurt, Dictionary of War). He was a member of several juries, including the Mülheimer Dramatikerpreis 2005. He has taught among others at the Universities of Vienna and Frankfurt, and written and co-edited several books, including "Not Even a Game Anymore – The Theatre of Forced Entertainment" (2004) and “Experts of the Everyday – The Theatre of Rimini Protokoll“ (2008). He is member of the advisory board of DasArts - Master of Theatre, Amsterdam, and advisor for the Schillertage at Nationaltheater Mannheim.
Florian Malzacher lives in Zagreb and Graz.
Florian Malzacher is involved in the project as co-editor of Frakcija magazine on curating performing arts, and in the performance itself as performer and collaborator.
